As a result of the pay frequency change that starting January 2009 I will get paid twice a month, will I pay more federal income taxes withheld?

Category:  Payroll

Question:    As a result of the pay frequency change that starting January 2009 I will get paid twice a month, will I pay more federal income taxes withheld?

Answer:  Federal Income taxes (FIT) withholding is calculated based on the Internal Revenue Service tax tables. FIT taxes will be withheld based on the graduated tax tables provided by the IRS and FIT withholding is proportional to the earnings for a given pay period. One should not see a major change in the amount being withheld for FIT as a result of the pay frequency change.
